RPGrinders EP 802 - The End of Game Night (but not the end because it will be back)
Saturday Oct 19, 2024
Saturday Oct 19, 2024
The nights are getting longer. The days are getting colder. A feeling of impending doom is in the air. The end must be nigh! The last episode of RPGrinders? Hell no! The final episode of Game Night! The Grinders won't be slowed by the changing of the seasons. We won't be stopped by the things that go bump in the night!
Game Night might be coming to an end but the Grinders still have work to do! Darker nights and less dice rolls but plenty of news, reviews, and Stinkoes. News like the release date for Trails Through Daybreak II, a new release date for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and new DLC announced for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
The longer, darker nights and the lack of Game Night are a perfect excuse to check out the RPGrinders movie recommendations. For the spookiest of seasons, the Terrifier series is back with it's 3rd entry. For something less scary, Eric also has a review of My Hero Academia: You're Next!
The spooky season only lasts a month but the Stinko season goes year-round! As usual, Trump and politics rear their ugly heads. Discrimination against LGBTQ people, especially trans youth is still on the rise. Taco Bell has decided that they hate their customer base. And Toyota has decided that they hate their employees.
And I say again, the end is NIGH! The final episode of Game Night! The band of 6 heroes have braved shitty towns, dark forests, a lack of restroom access, and a Rat that won't shut the fuck up. They came out victorious against angry squirrels, wild wabbits, naked rednecks, and a monster that totally wasn't Godzilla. Now the party of heroes will their final challenge. On the top floor of the Tower of Frank they face off against the Slime Wizard. If they can defeat him, it will forever change the World of Frank.
With no more Game Night to occupy these long, dark nights. The only thing left to do will be to prepare yourself for the things that go bump in the night. Load up on garlic. Bless the holy water. Load your silver bullets. And practice your whip skills. Game Night will be back next year. If you want to play, you will first have to survive the long, cold nights.
Usually, I dress in my Darth Vader costume. This year I was thinking about wearing something sexier. A Sexy Vader costume? Vader with eye makeup and skinny jeans?

RPGrinders EP 799 - Elon Musk owes me $100 bux
Thursday Sep 26, 2024
Thursday Sep 26, 2024
There are currently estimated to be over 4 million podcasts with over 500 million listeners. Approximately 44 % of those podcasts made 3 episodes or less. Of those less than 2 million podcasts, less than half made more than 10 episodes. Of the less than 1 million podcasts, less than 200k of those podcasts put out weekly episodes. For the RPGrinders, this is the 799th episode. Most podcasts don't last for a year but the Grinders are now going 15 years strong! This is the penultimate episode!
Being a weekly podcast gives the Grinders the ability to stay on top of the latest RPG news. Combine that with Eric's vast JRPG knowledge, the average listener is going to learn something new. This week's news is filled with release dates and one of the coolest game titles ever created: "Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii"! If the game is anything like the rest of the Yakuza series, the name won't be the only awesome thing about that game.
Not only do the Grinders give weekly news and reviews. It wouldn't be an episode of RPGrinders without a heavy dose of opinion. It does get much more opinionated than the Stinkos. This week's Stinkos are not going to be popular with conservatives as Break has multiple complaints about the party's behavior. Republicans in Ohio, Republicans in DC, Republicans in general, seem to be hated by Break. The Republicans might be a pain in Break's neck but nowhere near as painful of Frank's back issues.
Since the Grinders have been doing this for over 15 years, they are always looking for a new way to entertain themselves and their listeners. One of the latest ways to spice up the show is the creation of the Panic Room! The goal of the PR is to put you into an unpleasant situation and discuss how you would approach the danger. This week, the Grinders have gone to Hell and must battle Death to save their souls. Bill and Tedd beat Grim by playing old school board games. What game would play if you had only one chance to beat the immortal? Would you challenge him to Go Fish or Chess? Is it a wise idea to challenge an immortal to a word game like Scrabble? Can his skeleton body move fast enough to beat Frank at Hungry Hungry Hippo??
October will be here soon and with it comes the 800th episode of RPGrinders. A feat not achieved by the majority of podcasters! Most of them never even make it to 100. Will RPGrinders still be around 15 years from now for episode 1600? Hard to say but we aren't planning on stopping anytime soon!
If you are feeling truly lucky, challenge the Grim Reaper to a game of Operation.

RPGrinders EP 796 - Three More Episodes Til 800!
Tuesday Sep 03, 2024
Tuesday Sep 03, 2024
For the last time in the summer of 2024 the Grinders are back! Well, kind of. Frank and Eric are back. Did Break not get the memo? Maybe Break has just been so busy that he hasn't had time? Maybe that is why he is posting it now, over a week later? More than likely, he's just an idiot.
Regardless of the failures of their other host, Frank and Eric march on! Since Eric has already done the news, the Grinders can skip ahead. Maybe the show will be shorter? A Food Quest denied is another quest failed.
Without anyone to interrupt, it's smooth sailing for Frank and Eric. Or at least it would be smooth if Eric wasn't reviewing not one but two terrible movies. Listen to what he thinks about Blade Trinity and Catwoman, Break will be sorry he missed those. He might also be sorry that he doesn't get to hear Frank's review of two good movies! The prequel movie Furiosa and the horror movie that's been gaining a lot of buzz, Long Legs.
If the stench of bad movies hasn't left your nostrils yet, it's only going to get worse. As it is time for the Stinkos! The lack of a show the previous week is a huge stinko but not as big as the trouble Frank had to face. Though not as bad, rainy paint and 30 FPS (when it should be 60) are very annoying.
Good news should follow the bad and what could be better than Sweetos? There aren't many but one involves Frank going out to dinner with one of our favorite friends, Freak5Chaos!
With only one segment left the Grinders might be able to get an early dinner! First, they will have to do this week's Driver's Seat. Do you trust the media? Frank and Eric have a lot of perspective on the media and how it affects the world and things like politics. Who else has an opinion? Break Man, as he finally shows up to do the show.
Was Break high, drunk, and lost in the woods? Did he come across a helpless old woman being attacked by an evil motorcycle gang and he had to save her and single handily defeat all of them? Was he in the hospital, again? Was he in the nuthouse, again? Or was he simply stuck in traffic?
Well, whatever the answer is to those questions, at least we do know the answer to another question: Food Quest failed. The loudmouth Break could keep them there all night. He is back with plenty of Stinkos, Sweetos, his views on the media, and maybe a review.
Better late than never, unless everyone was hungry.
Now that it's quasi-fall, is it too soon to start putting out the Halloween decorations?

RPGrinders EP 790 - Game Night: Episode 5 - The Return of the Return to Frank World
Wednesday Jun 26, 2024
Wednesday Jun 26, 2024
Pride month has been a wild one for the RPGrinders. Eric has been forced to do the news by himself. Break has been going broke at Pride festivals. Frank had such a bad day that we were forced to cancel one night! With so much going on will the Grinders have enough time to finish Game Night?
Normally, the show would start with the news but Eric did the hard work of recording all of the news in a separate mini episode. Without news the Grinders skip ahead.
With a two-week break the Grinders have plenty of reviews. Eric reviews a classic 80s trilogy that made a crazy man into a Hollywood icon. The review of the post-apocalyptic Mad Max trilogy leads into the newest movie in the franchise, Furiosa. Eric also gives his review of the first season of Delicious in Dungeon. Break and Frank also have reviews but Eric is obviously the star of this segment!
Next up is the Stinkos, and Break's attempts at dragging the show on forever with a laundry list of complaints. A corrupt Supreme Court, dirty Ohio politicians, the death of arguably the greatest baseball player to ever live and a Hollywood legend, are only a handful of his complaints. Does he ever have anything good to say?
Yes, he does! And that is they the Sweetos come next! Break enjoys a far-Right political group sticking it to Trump. Booing Trump should be a National Pastime. Frank enjoys the spoils of a brand-new washing machine and by spoils, I mean clean clothes. Eric isn't to be left out as the Nintendo Direct was able to meet his high standards.
With no episode on the last Friday in June, will the Grinders be able to complete game night in this episode? The heroes start the current adventure with a choice before them. A Forest, a Dungeon, and a Field were all challenges that need to be defeated before they complete the magic scroll, defeat the evil squirrel wizard, Cutie Pie, and escape his curse. So far, the heroes have defeated the Dungeon but not in time to rescue their uber-hot friends.
Now only two areas remained. Which would the party choose first: A Rabbit infested Field or a cursed Forest? Either choice will be dangerous. The Forest is currently run by one of the many families of the Rabbit mafia, the Cottontail family. The Forest may even be more dangerous as its list of enemies is more diverse and hungrier.
Will our heroes survive? Will they be able to beat Game Night in one night? Will Eric and Frank finally get fed up with Break's ludicrous story telling? Can the chatters trust Frank to roll a 20? Can this clusterfuck of a game actually entertain?
*fingers crossed*
And yes. That is the voice of God. Now GET! GET ON OUTTA 'ERE!
HAPPY PRIDE!

RPGrinders EP 787 - The Gentleman Pervert
Thursday May 16, 2024
Thursday May 16, 2024
Frank, this one is for you...
A wise one once said that great things come in threes, at least I think that is what they said. We do have plenty of evidence to prove it; the Nasty Boys couldn't be hit, the Fat Boys could always drop a beat, the Police are one of the best selling bands of all time, and the RPGrinders are the greatest trio of video game/skeptic podcasters!
Like a Message in a Bottle a new wave of news has more than one story to tell. At least, no one will have to wait as long for these upcoming releases than for a bottle to float across the ocean. Rocket Knight Adventures Re-Sparked will be releasing in June, while Gundam Breakers 4 gets an August release, and Reynatis arrives just in time for Fall.
Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland were a band with an unfortunate name. As there is no group that has featured in the Stinkos more prominently than the actual police! Can the cops even go a week without murdering an innocent civilian? I don't know but I bet the Police would make better law enforcement.
The Driver's Seat is back and this time Frank is at the wheel and a fully loaded trunk. The police (not the Police) and A.I. way heavily on Frank's mind. We already know we can't trust the police (you can probably trust the Police) but can we trust A.I.? Is Every Breath You Take being watched by the machines? Will the computer overlords deem humanity a threat? Will A.I. attack humanity and can humanity survive the Fall Out? Is A.I. as big a threat as Frank believes? Or are Break and Eric right to be excited for a future living side by side a brand-new life form and friend?
I want to wish a special thank you to the Police. I mean this from the bottom of my heart: please don't sue me. I also want to apologize to Frank because I couldn't figure out how to work Roxanne into this in any other way than this. The same for Every Little Thing She Does is Magic, but I worked this song in for me.
Every little thing she does is magic.
Everything she do just turns me on.
Even though my life before was tragic.
Now I know my love for her goes on.
The Gentleman Pervert says please before he flashes strangers.
The Gentleman Pervert always washes his hands before and after groping random women.
The Gentleman Pervert thanks the women after peeping in their windows.
The Gentleman Pervert washes, folds, and returns all of the panties he steals. He even leaves an apology note.
